We are lucky to have so many road enthusiasts in Victoria, that there are weekly road rides that run all year long!

Here's what you need to know before heading out on any of our awesome weekly group rides:

1) You have a Victoria Wheelers Club membership; Cycling BC license; or a UCI license; or

2) If you don't have any of the above, please come a little early and ask for the Ride Leader. Before leaving the Ride Leader will give you our really interesting 2-ride waiver to read and sign, which allows you join 2 group rides. After you've experienced 2 group rides and discover that you want to get involved more, you need to go back to #1 and get a UCI license and/or Club membership.

3) You've checked out our Wheeler Rules of the Road.  We pride ourselves on being safe and supportive riders.

Monday Women's Ride

Led by Victoria Wheelers Ambassadors, the  Monday Night Women’s Ride usually leaves from the Oak Bay Bikes parking lot (1990 Oak Bay Ave) at 6:00pm.

And as a mildly undulating 30km route is both an introduction to group riding and a moderately paced recovery ride.

Monday Gentleman’s Ride

The Monday Night Gentlemen’s Ride will depart from the Oak Bay Bikes parking lot (1990 Oak Bay Ave) at 6:15pm.

These rides are designed to be a social spin – and riders should be able to maintain a 24-27km/hr average yet “conversational” pace. The route will vary from week to week, but a 40-60kms ride can be expected.

Some group riding experience is good, but not mandatory. The Victoria Wheelers adhere to no-drop policy with the occasional “sprint”, hill climb or short gravel/dirt section followed by a re-grouping point.

The rides are meant to showcase some of Victoria’s best roads – waterfront, deep forest, farmland and urban areas. Hopefully, our riders will learn some new routes to keep the riding fresh!

The Fernwood Inn has once again graciously offered up some patio space for post ride beverages, snacks and meals – bring along a few dollars and enjoy the best chicken wings in town! Please bring adequate front & rear lights to ensure a safe ride home.

Your Victoria Wheelers’ club membership and Cycling BC Insurance has to be current. Not a club member (yet) and/or need more info? Visit http://victoriawheelers.ca/join-club! Suggested weekly routes can be found in the “planning section” in the Wheelers’ Forum, last minute changes will be posted to the Victoria Wheelers’ website, on facebook or twitter.
